The Kentish Plover

This tiny wader is a not so rare visitor to La Mancha, and can be seen sometimes during the winter, according to my own observations. Being so small though it can easily be missed at only 15-17cm long .
Although it´s name suggests it should be found in Kent, UK, this is now an extremely rare visitor to the UK. It also has a cousin the Snowy Plover in the new world.
It likes the solitude and tranquility of lonely beaches and thus is in decline in Europe in many sites. There´s no beach here, but this small, cheerful wee chappy is more than welcome in La Mancha.
